Wage and Salary Administration

A primary objective of the WVUH salary administration program is to help ensure the Hospital is able to attract, retain and motivate the number and caliber of individuals necessary in order to achieve its mission and to do so in the most cost-effective way possible.

In order to accomplish this, it is WVUH policy that a wage or salary range will be established for each of the organization's jobs and that these ranges will be (a) internally equitable, i.e., fair when compared with the ranges established for other WVUH jobs as well as (b) externally competitive, i.e., fair when compared with the rates paid and ranges utilized by other employers for comparable jobs. In order to ensure that WVUH remains internally equitable and externally competitive, an annual evaluation of job classifications and salary ranges will occur. It is also WVUH policy that each employee will receive a rate of pay that falls within the range that has been established for his or her job. In addition, each employee's rate of pay that is established for his or her job will be determined by a combination of factors including the employee's work performance and experience in the job. WVUH salary administration policies and practices are designed and administered in such a way as to comply with all laws and to provide fair treatment for all employees regardless of race, religion, sex, national origin, age or handicap.

Please consult the wage and salary policies on Ruby Online or in the Human Resources office for more information.
