Department of Pharmacy
The pharmacists, technicians, and support personnel in
the WVUH Department of Pharmacy provide pharmacy
services for all of West Virginia University Hospitals.
Our priority is to meet the needs of our patients, our
team, and our community, and to ensure that patients
receive the highest quality pharmacist care possible.
The pharmacist is responsible for the provision of
direct patient care.
Clinical responsibilities of the pharmacist include
participating in patient-care rounding, renal drug
dosing, and therapeutic drug monitoring. The Department
recognizes the importance of technology and has a fully
implemented physician-order entry system and automated
medication cabinets. Other resources include an
extensive pneumatic tube system, drug information,
Internet resources, and a medical library.
