The Patient Financial Services and Patient Access Departments are vital to the successful operation of WVUH. A wide range of career opportunities, as well as schedules and shifts, are available to meet individual needs.
The Patient Financial Services department is responsible for billing for patient services provided at WVUH. It also facilitates payments and collections by insurance companies and others.
Employees ensure patients understand their insurance benefits and personal payment responsibility through financial education and fee estimates. They work with patients to determine payment arrangements for outstanding amounts owed. The Patient Financial Services is located in the WVUH Ruby Office Complex.
Patient Financial Services also includes the Paging Operations department. This department is responsible for operating telecommunications equipment to ensure that accurate information and services are provided to patients, visitors, and staff. Paging answers incoming calls to main hospital line and provides overhead paging services. This department is located within Ruby Memorial Hospital.
The Patient Access department is responsible for patient registration, pre-certification, insurance verification and financial counseling. Staff is located throughout the WVU Health Sciences Center campus, as well as off campus.
Patient Access employees ensure that patient registration information is accurate and complete. They work with all Hospital services — outpatient services, emergency services, same-day surgery, and inpatient admissions.
