10 East (1OE)

SNU/Skilled Nursing Unit
- Unit specialty is skilled nursing.
- The bed capacity is 20.
- Types of patients on this unit include rehab/restorative care to long term antibiotic therapy, palliative care, and wound care.
9 East (9E)
- Unit specialty is neurology and neurosurgery.
- The bed capacity is 33 with 23 floor and 9 step-down.
- This unit has video EEG rooms.
- Types of patients on this unit include seizures, Trans ischemic attacks, strokes, sub-arachnoid hemorrhage, brain tumors with craniotomies, cervical discectomies, and laminectomies.
9 West/Oncology Center (9W)
- Unit specialty is adult hematology/oncology.
- The bed capacity is 20.
- Types of patients on this unit include leukemia, lung cancer, Hodgkin's disease, Non-Hodgkin's disease, lymphomas, breast cancer, gynecology/oncology, triage care for neutropenic fevers and outpatient services such as dressing changes, injections, (G-CSF injection), blood transfusion and lab draws.
Blood and Marrow Transplant Ink (BMTU)
- Unit specialty is adult oncology transplantation.
- The bed capacity is 12.
- Types of patients on this unit include Autologous and allogeneic transplantation, stem cell transplantation, matched unrelated donor transplantation, and syngeneic transplantation.
Other services include: high dose chemotherapy, total body irradiation, Leukopheresis, and stem cell apheresis.
- In addition, outpatient services (BMOP patients) are provided including but not limited to apheresis and Transplantation.
Observation Unit
- Unit specialty is observation with 24 hours or less length of stay.
- The bed capacity is 12.
- Types of patients include cardiac monitoring, rule out chest pain, and dehydration.
8 East (8E)
- Unit specialty is general and family medicine with Telemetry.
- The bed capacity is 34.
- Types of patients include Pneumonia, chest pain, asthma, diabetes, hypertension, and renal failure.
8 West (8W)
- Unit specialty is medical/surgical.
- The bed capacity is 30 with 21 floor and 9 step-down.
- Types of patients include urology, gynecology-oncology surgery and medicine
Types of patients include surgical services for adults and children from T&A's to open-heart surgery and transplantation services: bone marrow transplant.
Dialysis
- Unit specialty is inpatient and outpatient dialysis.

7 East (7E)
- Unit specialty is trauma, general surgery, surgery oncology, and oral surgery.
- The bed capacity is 33 with 24 floor and 9 step-down.
- Types of patients include motor vehicle accidents, falls, gun shot wounds, colon resections, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, Nissen (lap), gastric bypass (lap and open), thyroidectomy, mastectomy, Whipple procedure, facial fracture repairs, laryngectomy, radical neck dissection and UPPP.
7 West (7W)
- Unit specialty is orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, and ophthalmology surgery.
- The bed capacity is 28.
- Types of patients include total hip replacement, total knee replacement, ankle, femur and shoulder repairs, split-thickness-skin grafts, breast reconstruction, peripheral vascular bypass, and aortic aneurysm repair.
6 East/Pediatrics (6E)
- Unit specialty is medical/surgical pediatrics.
- The bed capacity is 32 with 27 floor and 5 step-down.
- Types of patients include oncology, cardiac, cystic fibrosis, anorexic, and diabetes.
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Unit specialty is complex cardiac surgery and trauma.
- The bed capacity is 10.
- Types of patients include post-op, medical/surgical management of all pediatric sub specialties.
Newborn Intensive Care (NICU)
- Unit specialty is critical care management of premature infants.
- The bed capacity is 32 with 20 intensive and 12 transitional.
- Types of patients include premature infants.
Maternal and Infant Care Center (MICC)
- Unit specialty is maternity care from conception through delivery.
- The unit consists of 8 LDR/5 LDRP, and 17 antepartum/postpartum rooms.
- Types of patients include high-risk obstetrics and term deliveries.
Medical/Surgical lntensive Care (MICU/SICU)
- Unit specialty is surgery/medicine.
- The bed capacity is 20.
- Types of patients include trauma, neurosurgery, vascular, general surgery, general medicine, stroke, pulmonary, metabolic disease and renal disease.
Cardiac Care/Cardiac Thoracic Intensive Care (CTU/CCU)
- Unit specialty is cardiology and cardio thoracic surgery.
- The bed capacity is 16.
- Types of patients include myocardial infarction, cardiac procedures, cardiac disorder and post operative CABGs, valves, thoracotomies.
Care Management
- The Care Management Department serves all patient populations at WVUH including inpatient, Same Day Care Unit patients, and patients seen in the ED, Chestnut Ridge Center and the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center.
- Clinical Care Coordinators (CCCs), Outcomes Managers (OMs) and Social workers (SW) within the Department collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the health care team to assist patients and families with their discharge from the hospital.
- The department works closely with insurance companies to help ensure a patient's hospital stay is approved for payment and any services needed upon discharge from the hospital are approved for payment.
- The Care Management Department can assist with any personal, financial and family problem that may arise. In addition, the department has staff available for counseling and can assist with understanding and obtaining community resources.
Peri-Operative Services
- Unit specialty is surgical services inclusive of open-heart preparation and recovery for operative patients.
- There are:
- 12 main ORs
- 14 main recovery
- 6 outpatient ORs
- 2 cystoscopy suites
- 36 pre/post outpatient recovery
- 4 endoscopy suites
- Types of patients include surgical services for adults and children from T &A's to open- heart surgery and transplantation services: kidney and bone marrow transplant.
- Additional services provided are pain procedures and recovery of patients after interventional radiology.
Emergency Department (ED)
- Unit specialty is emergency services, Level 1 Trauma Center, and emergency air transport service.
- There are 22 treatment areas with 4 Urgent Care treatment areas.
Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center (MBRCC)
- Unit specialty is adult outpatient oncology services.
- There are 17 exam rooms and 13 treatment rooms.
- Types of patients include patients with primary diagnosis of breast cancer, lung cancer, lymphomas, hematological disorders, brain tumors, and leukemia.
- The clinic also provides services to gynecology/oncology, surgical/oncology, dermatology for skin cancers and MOHS surgery, blood and marrow transplantation/hematologic malignancies, and hematology/oncology.
- The clinic provides multidisciplinary clinics for lung and breast cancers, blood and marrow transplantation/hematologic malignancies, and brain tumors.
Other services include: colposcopy, blood transfusion, lab draws, line care, chemotherapy administration, injections, and fluid hydration.
Chestnut Ridge Center (CRC)
- Chestnut Ridge Center specialty is psychiatric and chemical dependency.
- The bed capacity is 70.
- The hospital consists of an acute adolescent unit, adult unit, dual diagnosis unit and psychiatric intensive care unit.
- It also has a residential treatment center and a day hospital.
