Special Edition Fiestaware® is Exclusive to Friends Gift Shop
WVU fans are now able to add to their Fiestaware® or WVU memorabilia collections – and help the Friends of WVU Hospitals at the same time. By special arrangement with the Homer Laughlin China Co., the Friends are distributors of a line of Fiesta® items emblazoned with WVU symbols.
Fiesta items are available: dinner plates, chop plates, mugs, pitchers and tool crocks. Each will be sold in three color schemes – gold with blue accents, blue with gold, and white with blue-and-gold. Some items include the “Flying WV” logo; others have “The Mountaineer.”
The pattern will be sold through the WVU Hospitals gift shop and the gift shop website, www.wvuhgift.com.
“This a partnership between a great company that’s proud of its West Virginia roots and a great university that’s proud of its West Virginia roots,” said Cathy Snow, specialty sales manager for the Homer Laughlin China Company.
Fiesta® is manufactured by Homer Laughlin in Newell, West Virginia, and is used and collected all over the world. The china was designed by Frederick Hurton Rhead in 1936. As originally designed, the line featured art deco styling and bold, bright colors.
The Mountaineer Fiesta® collection was designed by Antion and her son, Whinston. The two have donated their rights to the design to the Friends so that all sales will benefit future patients at the hospitals.
