Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care

WVU Hospitals offers a full-range of pastoral and spiritual support services to patients and their families.

A staff of chaplains, full-time chaplain residents and part-time chaplain interns in training, provides spiritual and religious care to patients and family members of any faith tradition.  Chaplains can also help contact spiritual and religious leaders in the community.

The pastoral care training program is accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. located at 1549 Clairmont Road, Decatur, GA 30033. Phone: (404)-330-1472.

Chaplains serve on the Organ Donation, Ethics, Cancer and Organizational Ethics Committees as well as the Palliative Care Team.  WVUH also has a clinical pastoral education program accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc.

Our unique spiritual care staff includes a Celtic harpist who plays music at patients bedsides.

If you would like to have a visit from a chaplain or our music ministry, please call the Pastoral Care office at (304) 598-4000, ext. 73060.

Mary H. Ragland, Th.M.
Director of Pastoral Care
