International Program — World-Renowned Health Experts

West Virginia University Hospitals welcomes and cares for many patients from around the world. We have world-renowned experts, especially in neurosurgery, cancer treatment, heart surgery, and eye care, who can provide treatments not readily available elsewhere. Our specialists have access to the latest technology, including 3-Tesla MRI -- twice as powerful as regular MRI -- Gamma Knife, positron emission tomography (PET), and others.

We understand that traveling to a foreign country for medical care places additional stress on people who are already dealing with an illness or injury. We do everything we can to make our patients from abroad as comfortable as possible, and to provide the very highest level of care.

From the moment you arrive at WVU Hospitals, a team of highly trained and dedicated professionals will care for you. Our operating rooms contain the most advanced technology. Highly trained teams of anesthesiologists, nurses, and other health professionals care for you.

Your doctor will explain exactly what is planned for your treatment, encourage you to ask questions, and make sure your wishes are understood. After surgery, we will monitor you carefully and do everything we can to keep you as comfortable and pain-free as possible. Before you are released from the hospital, your doctor will meet with you to answer your questions.

If you wish to be referred to WVU Hospitals, please complete and submit our Referral Form. Your form will be reviewed by a physician in the specialty you are requesting referral to. You can submit the form by faxing it to 304-598-6145.
