Are you a physician who wants to learn about services for your patients at West Virginia University? You can use the Medical Access and Referral System (MARS) to communicate with WVU physicians about your patients and receive patient discharge summaries. The MARS telephone service is staffed 24 hours a day. Physicians who refer patients to WVU are key members of the patient's medical team. WVU is committed to a strong communication link with physicians who refer patients to WVU's physicians and facilities.
Through Physicians Services and MARS, referring physicians are provided with timely patient information including notification of scheduled (and rescheduled) patient admissions or procedures, personal phone calls by WVU physicians, personal visits by the Physician Services Specialist, and documentation including discharge summaries and notification of patient expirations.
MARS and the Physician Services Specialist serve as a contact for additional information such as clinic letters, test results, and medication information.
Patient information is available by phone, fax or overnight mail if desired.
MARS Medical Director Kevin Halbritter, MD, is available to talk with physicians. A physician services liaison is available to meet with you, discuss patient referrals and keep you informed of new services at WVU. In addition both Physician Services Specialist Rodney Baker and MARS Manager Barbara McCollum, RN, can assist in obtaining additional information about patient referrals.
