West Virginia ranked first in the United States among obesity and diabetes statistics, a team of health care providers saw a need in the Eastern Panhandle.

“Our goal was to create a multidisciplinary team that addressed obesity and diabetes across the age spectrum from pregnancy to older age and across the spectrum of disease severity from insulin resistance — obesity, pre-diabetes, polycystic disease — to end-stage diabetes with complications,” Center Director and Dean of WVU School of Medicine’s Eastern Campus Emma Morton-Eggleston said.
