The Addiction Intensive Outpatient Program provides therapy, education, and medical treatment to drug and/or alcohol dependent individuals and their families during early recovery. The program is staffed by members of the WVU School of Medicine Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry.
The length of outpatient treatment and long-term sobriety are closely connected — most people who relapse do so in the first 90 days. Our program helps during this critical period by providing a place for recovering individuals to learn new behavioral skills and to integrate these skills into daily living.
The program consists of therapy, family, and medical groups that meet 3 days a week. The groups provide participants an opportunity to talk about their issues, obtain education on the recovery process, educate family and friends on the nature of addiction, and obtain necessary medical care.
Participants are also seen individually by a therapist on a regular basis.
To join the Intensive Outpatient Program, call Chestnut Ridge Outpatient Services between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday at 304-598-4214.
