Consultation and Pre-surgery Information

If you are considering weight loss surgery at WVU, the first step is to attend a free informational seminar. During this mandatory seminar, an information packet will be provided and you will learn more about our medical team. One of our surgeons will discuss the surgical procedures we offer, the benefits and risks of surgery, and results you may expect. The clinical psychologist will talk about the evaluation that is required, as well as possible treatment services that may help you. Our dietitian will review the changes that you'll need to make in your eating habits after surgery. The seminar is a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have and to share information with other patients.

To make a reservation for a seminar, please call 304-293-6386. A letter and a Surgical Weight Loss Medical Inventory will be mailed to you a few weeks before the seminar. It is important to complete the Surgical Weight Loss Medical Inventory and bring it with you to the seminar. This information is used to help screen prospective candidates for surgery.

Seminars are offered at West Virginia University in Morgantown and at various other locations in the region.
