Warren Boling, MD, FRCSC
Surgical Director
Epilepsy Center
Warren Boling is a neurosurgeon who specializes in surgery for epilepsy. He completed advanced training at the University of Kentucky, the Montreal Neurological Institute of McGill University, and the University of Melbourne, Australia. He is board certified in neurosurgery and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. In addition to epilepsy surgery, Dr. Boling has special interests in brain mapping and functional imaging.
Adriana Palade, MD
Director, EEG/Epilepsy Laboratory
Adult Epilepsy
Adriana Palade is director of the EEG/epilepsy laboratory and a neurologist with advanced training in the medical treatment and diagnostic evaluation of patients with epilepsy. She completed advanced training at Allegheny General Hospital and Duke University. Dr. Palade is board certified in neurology.
John Brick, MD

Adult Epilepsy
John Brick is a neurologist and chair of neurology at WVU hospitals. He received his medical degree from WVU and his specialty training from WVU and the Mayo Clinic. His special interests include epilepsy, headache, and cerebrovascular disease/stroke. Dr. Brick is board certified in neurology and EEG.
Jeffrey Carpenter, MD
Section Chief of Neurointerventional Radiology, Director of MRI
Jeffrey Carpenter is a neuroradiologist and an expert in the use of endovascular techniques for the obliteration of aneurysms and embolization of tumors. Dr. Carpenter is board certified in diagnostic radiology. He received his medical degree from WVU and his specialty training from the University of Pittsburgh.
Marc W. Haut, PhD
Neuropsychology Director
Marc Haut is the director of neuropsychological services in the Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry Department. He is also a faculty member of the Neurology Department.
Dr. Haut received his degree from the University of North Dakota and completed his specialty training at the University of Missouri and WVU. He is board-certified in psychology and clinical neuropsychology and his areas of special interest include neuropsychological testing, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer's disease.
Gary D. Marano, MD
Neuroradiology
Gary Marano is associate professor of radiology, neurology, and neurosurgery and is director of the nuclear medicine section and PET. He also serves as medical director of the Center for Advanced Imaging's neuroradiology section.
Dr. Marano completed his medical training in 1976 at WVU, where he also completed his residency in neurology two years later. From 1978 to 1981, he was a resident in diagnostic radiology; in 1980, he served as chief resident. Dr. Marano completed a master's degree in chemical engineering at WVU while also doing medical research.
Maria Moran, PhD
Neuropsychology
Maria Moran is a neuropsychologist with the WVU Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry. She received her medical degree from Finch University of Health Sciences and The Chicago Medical School. Her specialty training is from WVU, and her special interests include neuropsychology and epilepsy.
Ansaar Rai, MD
Neuroradiology
Ansaar Rai is a neuroradiologist at WVU. His special interests include stroke intervention and imaging. Dr. Rai received his medical degree from Agha Khan University in Pakistan and his specialty training from WVU. His areas of interest include stroke intervention and imaging, and endovascular and percutaneous treatment of head and neck pathologies.
Alejandro Torres-Trejo, MD
Adult Epilepsy, Neuro-oncology
Alejandro Torres-Trejo is an expert in neurological complications of cancer and its treatment, and epilepsy. He is the only neuro-oncologist in West Virginia.
Dr. Torres-Trejo earned his medical degree from the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico. He completed specialty training in neurology at the State University of New York, Buffalo, in neuro-oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and the University of California, Los Angles. Dr. Torres-Trejo also completed a fellowship in epilepsy at WVU.
Tracy Weimer, MD, PhD
Adult Epilepsy, Neurphysiology
Tracy Weimer is a neurologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating people with chronic headaches and related disorders of the brain.
Dr. Weimer completed her medical degree at Marshall University and received advanced training in neurology and internal medicine at WVU. She earned her PhD in pharmacology and toxicology and completed two fellowships at WVU.
Maggie Jaynes, MD
Pediatric Epilepsy
Maggie Jaynes, MD, is the section chief of pediatric neurology at WVU. She received her medical degree and her specialty training from West Virginia University. She is board Certified in neurology and child neurology. Dr. Jaynes areaa of special interests include Pediatrics and attention deficit disorder.
Daunice Lohr, RN
Epilepsy Care Coordinator
Daunice Lohr, RN is the Center’s nurse epilepsy coordinator, she works directly with the physician director of the Epilepsy Care Unit in development and coordination of the program. This includes the outpatient clinics in pediatric and adult neurology, seizure surgery program and inpatient extended video EEG monitoring.
In addition, she manages seizure record for patient charts, the seizure database, develops patient teaching resources, initiates the Ketogenic Diet Program and the Vagus Nerve Stimulator Program.
Ms. Lohr will also help to put you in contact with Dr. Boling or other members of the medical staff of the Epilepsy Center.
