Assessment

CT scan of a stroke patientStroke patients at WVU are assessed with three CT scans that guide the course of treatment. The CT scan assesses the size of the affected area.

Next, CT angiography pinpoints the exact location of the clot.

Finally, CT perfusion determines the blood flow to the brain. These tools allow WVU’s radiologists to determine the extent of the damage and identify the patients who can benefit from treatment versus those who may be further harmed by intervention.
